The Dodge Charger has been an icon of American muscle since its inception in 1966. This Pro Touring-style ‘68 Charger has been in process at GMP Cars Restoration for more than a year. Starting with perfecting the metal work and fitting panels the car was brought to bare metal and the fabrication process began. A new transmission tunnel was made to house the 6 speed Tremec transmission and we added a fitted piece of metal before the radiator to direct air towards the new Aluminum Radiator.
Once the metal work was complete, the car was treated to a two-tone paint scheme in gorgeous Torch red paint with Graphite Grey roof. Blacked out chrome and trim pieces add to the menacing look of the car and the custom black HRE wheels with Wilwood brakes set this Charger apart from any other build. The car features a Magnum Force suspension front coilover setup with 4-link rear suspension to allow the car to handle like a newer car. The new rear-end was given 3.73 gears with positraction to help get the 500+HP to the ground and all that power is produced by a 6.4 Liter Hemi (392cu. in.) with stand-alone ECU. A new power steering pump was added along with a power steering cooler and aluminum reservoir to assist with maneuvering this 4000lb. beast on city streets.
There are new modernized electronics throughout the car featuring a painless wiring harness and Dakota Digital gauges and power windows front and rear. The interior has been completely re-done in black leather with graphite suede inserts throughout, featuring a new center console with stock shifter and front seats acquired from a 2014 Dodge Challenger giving this car a uniquely high degree of comfort. Nothing has been overlooked; one look at the craftsmanship and you’ll know how perfect this car is.
